Mark Minton, an alumnus of Northwestern
State University has been the Director of
Bands at Parkway High School in Bossier
City, Louisiana since 1997, where he directs
the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz
Ensemble, and Marching Band.  Under his
direction, the Parkway Band consistently
receives superior ratings at competitions on
the district and state level for both concert
band and marching band.  Mr. Minton's
bands receive many requests to perform at
business openings, as well as special
events in the Shreveport area.  Under the
direction of Mr. Minton, the Parkway Band
performed for President George W. Bush in
2002 and for Vice-President Dick Cheney in
2001.  In addition to school responsibilities,
Mr. Minton conducts the Bossier City
community groups, The Prevailing Winds
Concert Band and The Prevailing Winds
Jazz Band.  Mr. Minton has adjudicated at
Band, Jazz, and Solo and Ensemble
Festivals throughout Louisiana and Texas.  
As a professional musician, Mr. Minton is a
composer, arranger, and performer.  He is a
former member of the Mesquite Symphony
Orchestra, North Texas Symphony
Orchestra and currently performs as a
freelance trombonist often as a Dixieland
jazz or big band jazz artist.  He performs as a
member of the Shreveport-based sextet
"Louisiana Jazz Repertory Ensemble," a
group that emphasizes the music of the
great Louisiana jazz musicians.  Mr. Minton's
professional affiliations include the National
Band Association, Music Educators National
Conference, Louisiana Music Education
Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Coby Coco is currently in his 7th  year as
Assistant Band Director for both Parkway
High and Elm Grove Middle Schools..  He
holds a Bachelor of Science from
Northwestern State University in
Natchitoches, LA, where he studied
percussion under Mr. Kenneth Green.
After beginning his teaching career at
DeRidder HS as Associate Director of
Bands (1997-99), Mr. Coco also served as
Director of Bands at Southwood HS
(2000) before coming to Parkway in June
2001. After 2 years at Parkway, Mr. Coco
accepted a position in Plano, TX as
Percussion Coordinator for the West
Cluster of the Plano ISD.  In heading up
the percussion program at Plano West
Senior High, the Plano West Drumline
received consistent First Division ratings
in Texas UIL Competition, in both the
marching and concert venues.  During his
tenure in Plano, Mr. Coco served on the
percussion staff of Metro Alliance
Percussion (Dallas, TX), helping “Metro”
to a 4th place finish at the 2005 WGI World
Championships.  In July 2005, Mr. Coco
returned “home” to teach at Parkway
High /Elm Grove Middle Schools.  Mr.
Coco is active as a percussion clinician,
consultant, and drill designer throughout
the Louisiana and Texas. He is in his 15th
year as Percussion Coordinator of the
Northwestern State University Summer
Music Camps, and currently resides in
Bossier City, LA with his wife Alison, and
sons Austin, Cadence, Eli & cat Zildjian.
